Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi

A kongsi is a clan house for Chinese of the same clan or surname.

With its long, illustrious history & beautiful architecture, the Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi is an icon of Heritage Conservation. Known as the Heritage Jewel of Penang, the Khoo Kongsi comprises of the majestic clanhouse, opera stage, the courtyard and 24 heritage units.

This year, the Khoo Kongsi celebrates the 100th anniversary of its beautiful clanhouse, rebuilt after the original building was destroyed by fire in 1906. The craftsmanship and artisan work on this building is unparalleled anywhere in Malaysia.

The entire building is covered in intricate tile shard work, paintings of murals, detailed wood & stone carvings and resplendent gold leaf work.
